Nursing Services 

 | Education: | Unit Secretary should have compelted a formal hospital or Vocational Technical program or be willing to receive on-the-job-training for a six week period or be a student in a health occupation field. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent. |
 | Experience: | Knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures. Ability to operate technical equipment as acquired through orientation. Follows hospital and departmental policies including but not limited to mandatory inservices on the following: Fire, Safety, MSDS, Infection Control and Legal Compliance. |
 | Special Skills: | Applicant should possess the physical and mental stamina to perform job duties outlined. Unit Secretary must be able to take directions from multiple staff and have a basic understanding of medical terminology. Patience, tact, courtesy, initiative, and effective communication skills are essential. Unit Secretary will function in conjunction with the RN and LPN, staff nurses and other health care team members. |
 | Physical Requirements: | Normal hospital environment. Exposure to biological hazards. Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors. Lifting, pushing and pulling using proper body mechanism. Unit Secretary will be expected to devote 12 hours per day, each scheduled day, to accomplish his/her assigned duties. He/she will be expected on occasion to work on unscheduled days, when requested. The work requires walking and standing 80 - 90% of each day. |
