Job Description

Position: Emergency Department Director                            Department: Emergency Department

Definitions

Performance Expectations – Expectations that contribute to positive unit/department/hospital operations and promote personal and work related growth.

Performance Evaluation – The process of documenting the level at which a staff member has performed the expectations of their position description.

Competency – The ability to perform the tasks specific to the position description; assessed at the completion of orientation and annually.

Position Summary

The department director is responsible for the management of a specific assigned unit(s) in the nursing service department. This is accomplished through the planning, provision, coordination and evaluation of department activities in support of medical care as directed by the medical staff pursuant to the objectives, policies, and mission, vision and core values of the organization

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Currently licensed (unrestricted) in the State of Arkansas or compact state 

Work Experience

Supervisory exp preferred, not required

 

Specific Skills

  • BLS completed by end of orientation and maintained throughout employment
  • ACLS within 6 months of employment
  • PALS/NRP/TNCC may be necessary depending on unit
  • Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements

Standing/Walking Work (Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking)

Medium Work (Exert up to 50 lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
